Wind Energy Policy Guidance October 2001 This document expands on the two Policies above, discusses the policy background and the content for an Environmental Impact Assessment. There is also a map of preferred sites, all of which are outwith the CNP boundary. Aberdeenshire Council NEST Structure Plan 2001-2016 Policy 5: Renewable Energy Facilities Proposals shall be favourably considered subject to economic and landscape considerations. Proposals for wind farms will be assessed against tiered planning designations (in Policy 26); assuming Tier 2 for the CNP, proposals must not affect the integrity of the area, adverse effects must be outweighed by national benefits, there should be no alternative sites in lower tier areas. Will be approved, in principle, subject to the ‘tiered’ designation of the site and 3 further environmental criteria are met (inc. that the landscape impact is acceptable).
